Luna Cafe…

Luna Cafe…

“Coffee and friends, make the perfect blend.”

On my way to work, I spotted this newly-opened coffee shop in our hometown. Luna Cafe. It looks cozy from the outside, and I saw some splashes of the color pink inside. I instantly wanted to pay visit and check their menu so I scheduled it immediately over the next weekend.

Facade… They’re on the second floor.

I have been on the look-out for a coffee shop ala “Starbucks” that’s just near my place, like a rendezvous. I think this one’s the nearest so far. I have a leaning with “Picked” but it is 2 rides away from where I lived. And Starbucks is an hour drive from home.

Luna Cafe happens to be sitting beside another coffee shop. I just wondered why the owner of the place allowed tenants in similar businesses, it should be offer a variety as they will both benefit from it, looking at it, the other coffee shop looked gloomy, there was no guests at that time. While there are 2 tables occupied at Luna cafe.

Their interiors is the typical shabby looking, modern take of whats’ eclectic since they combined industrial chairs with girly and chic pieces, there are even flowers mounted on their walls that are made of papers. It actually added charm to the place or could be, because I just love the color pink.

My instant favorite is this wall. It inspired me to mount photos of those personalities that somehow inspired me and impacted my mindset, the likes of Mother Theresa, Frida Kahlo, or maybe even a photo of Madonna along my own portrait. Ahaha

Jen got quesadillas, as always, it has become her favorite. I tried the chipotle, because It reminds me of someone very special looking for chipotle when he visited the Philippines a few months ago.

Quesadillas..

We also wanted to try the mozarella logs, which also reminded us of the mozarella logs from Spatzle. I think I want to go back.

One of Cafe Luna’s best sellers are their artisanal coffees, intricately prepared in an artistic way, good to look at but you will always wonder if you’re going to eat all those decors since they are edible. Or should I leak the dripping chocolates on the sides of the mug.

I had avocado and Jen had their best seller specialty coffee: Cadbury Nutella.

The serving time was a bit longer than usual, so I again questioned what if it’s peak time. Jen asked me to not complaint and told her I will complaint, I am just sharing my views just with her. Or maybe they should have this standard spiel of informing their guests prep time of each item that we ordered.

Anyway, I just took photos of each corner to kill time, I even went out and took this pretty windchime, a hot air balloon, which is made of glass. It’s sound is so pacifying as soft wind came in that late Saturday night.

Their line-up isn’t pricey and I think is worthy for another visit when boredom at home hits me or should I need a little change in my environment. Anyway, it’s just 15 minutes away from home.

Cafe Luna is located at: Pacita Avenue, corner 16th avenue, Pacita Complex, San Pedro, Laguna.

TAZA MIA – Another local entry for coffee lovers…

Taza Mia – Another local entry for coffee lovers…

Just last week, we just had nachos with artisanal coffee at Taza Mia which is located at SM Sta. Rosa, Laguna. This is my __th coffee for the week on top of my usual intakes at home. Which is kind of crazy to think about.

taza lights
Storefront… those lights I so like! =)

Though, having tried this with a long time friend cum foodie buddy (travel buddy too), is a time well spent away from the stress of life. Besides, she likes what I like and wherever I drag her, she is so willing to go and even if it’s not more of her, she is always willing to give it a try. To be adventurous is cool.

While we were checking their menu, it is on an easel at their storefront, what I tried to find first is if they have nachos. And they have it so off we go to this 2 seater sofa and wood-finish laminated table and placed our order immediately.

Nachos? Check!

Choices!
taza logos
I like their logo..=)

It’d be always this usual combination. Our choice of coffee, nachos and blueberry cheesecake. According to the attendant, they run out of the cake and so we just had nachos. I had their roasted caramel iced coffee and Jen grab a fresh brewed in butterscotch variant.

taza coffee
Best choice! =)

We liked it that the salsa is served separately with the nacho chips. It’s tidier to consume and not like those that salsa were already there as toppings. It usually consume too much tissues.

taza nachos
Very tidy!

Now comes the verdict on the coffee. I really like what I had. Jen liked her choice too.

I also discover in amazement that beans of Taza Mia is sourced-out locally, specifically from Lipa, Batangas. And with their ambiance, the great taste of their coffee, I think they would succeed in being a local chain of cafes in the country.

Looking around, the shop was well thought-of. From the interiors, their menu, their furniture, the tableware are personalized/ logoed, they have paper mats and tissues with their logos on it, and of course, one of the most important criteria in judging a restaurant, is the stance of their staff.

Cool..

They have merchandise too..

Long way to go Taza Mia! Another Pinoy pride! =)

ps

They’re planning to put up new branches in the northern part of the country, they have almost 10 in the southern part and counting! =)

WAGAMAMA Cafe…

Wagamama Cafe

If you happen to pass by the main road of Pacita Complex in San Pedro, Laguna, you will noticed that the road is a plethora of shops that sell almost everything that you would need, from food, any girls’ haven (salon), medicine stores, toys for the big boys (car shops), laundry shops, dental clinics, bars, name it.

Of course, who wouldn’t want to stop by for a jar of coffee?

In short, foodie buddy and I spotted another. Wagamama Cafe. Again, out of curiosity, I research for the word: “Wagamama”. It means “naughty child” in the Japanese language.

Hmmmn… Japanese coffee shop..

And as we enter this cafe, I immediately check their chiller for my favorite dessert.

They have it, I’m good! =)

two young ladies took our orders which pretty faces and accents were that of Filipino Japanese. We had this assumption that they are the owners of the shop. The two girls were being assisted by an equally good-looking young man who might be a sibling too.

And there it is!

After choosing our own spots, we were contemplating between this black leathered 2 seater or that floor culture (a mini Tatami) with zabutons in earth colored fabrics. We opted to choose the former, as the Tatami is too small for us to be doing an Indian sit, or I guess we’re too big for it.

So what did we have?

For our drinks, we fought over having Rocky caramel coffee. It has chocolate bits on top. I had it and Jen had the White snow coffee. Why white, it is topped with bits of white chocolates.

For a starter, we would not want to miss their version of nachos. And we both craved for salsa. Theirs is just cheese sauce, mayo and ground beef.

No salsa..

We also tried their pasta carbonara.

Not bad..

And for dessert, what else are we gonna get, but a slice of blueberry cheesecake. Our regular dose of anti-oxidants!

Just okay..

Meant for coffee lovers! ❤

I am pretty sure that this will be a favorite of artisanal coffee lovers just like us, or an option among the many cafes you will find around this subdivision. An ideal place to hang-out, spend laid back time with families and/ or friends.

Maestro Fedeli Cafe..

Maestro Fedeli Cafe – Second time around…
When I think of coffee. I think of the food I want to have to pair it with. I think of the place too where I am going to get it. I think of the chairs where I am gonna sit and sip. Chairs to us matter guys! A lot! Mine should have milk on it.
maestro 2
Yep, I am!
maestro 1
And yes I do!
mine
Mine always have latte on it..
But have you noticed that chairs in coffee shops or restaurants in general are intended to be not too comfy? I just noticed it. Is it a standardized thing to make it that way so as not to encourage lingering, in this way, more guests can be accommodated.
tables
We won’t fit in here. Good for 2 pax only..
driftwood turned sofa
I loved how they came up with a bench out of driftwood..

And a revolving chair cum stool with back rest such as this..
I also think of the mug where it’s poured. I appreciate these little things. In retrospect. Always. More so, I think of the people I’m having them with. Czarina is the nearest thing to my heart next to my biological son. She is one of my son’s best friend. He brought me to her. Along with his exes! lol!
I learned to love them. Or they are easy to love. Their being carefree, I didn’t mind. I’ve been there. The good thing about it is that I instantly acquire daughters by heart without me rearing them in my tummy for nine long months. They are already big and God made me feel what’s it like having one. I see and felt one with Cha.
Cha would not fail to kill me with her sweetness. Jen and I opted to bring her to Maestro Fedeli.
signage 2
They recently transferred.

They are so easy to find, or I just grew up in the area.

I promised her that we’re leaving after lunch on this particular lazy Saturday afternoon. And she was literally thumping her right after we had lunch and kept asking “Are we leaving?” She’s such a baby.

We heard Maestro transferred to a bigger space so all wanted to check it out. We had our usual. Nachos, choco chip, Oreo chip, beef sandwich, and my blueberry cheesecake which now comes as a whole. It used to be per slice of a bigger whole. And higher by P50.00.

Mine is caramel frap, Cha’s choco chip and Jen’s has chocolates on it too..

The interior and exterior is nicer, I’ve been looking for that photo of a pretty girl drinking coffee, I must assume it’s on the second floor. As we opted to stay outside.

Saw this at their old branch..
We were so full, both our stomachs and our souls. As young as she is, Cha can be as deep. Jen and I are also simultaneously collating all the ideas we can get from their shop. We kept comparing all the nachos we’ve tried and voted for our favorites.
nachos
Too pricey for me.. as there are no meat on it..

We almost didn’t want the day (or night) to end. But there are obligations even on weekends.

What’s special in here is we were able to bond. Two souls from different generations made my heart bigger and my soul younger.

I can only be grateful. In a few minutes, I’d be back to reality. Till then. Maestro Fedeli is located at: 7th street, Pacita complex, San Pedro, Laguna.

life too short

Coffee is a part of my system. As I was searching for new coffee shops in our area. Since the nearest known coffee shops like Gloria Jeans, Starbucks, Figaro, Seattle’s best, Coffee bean & tea leaf is less than an hour travel from my place. I’m referring to Alabang. And If you’re driving, you’ll save 30 minutes due to the fact that you will be obliged to take the short cut via the express way. Still, it is not that near when the craving got into me.

As Jen and I were searching for it in the internet (she automatically became my coffee buddy too). We became proud to give verdicts on all those that we visited. We aren’t experts, however, comparing the taste of this from that allows us to appreciate that this or that is better than the other. We establish our favorites too. Those that are worth coming back since we opted to always try what is new.

It became a habit to unravel countless food spots in our country, as there too many. One evening, she came across “Death by chocolate”, a coffee variant of a certain coffee shop which happens to be located in San Pedro Laguna. Seeing its’ photo, it was like a form of a very effective advertising campaign that whoever will see it will definitely find it to try it for real.

So one weekend we opted to check it out and it was a funny thing when we asked the barker (dispatcher) of that village if how can we get to “Te Amo Cafe”. Little did we know that it is just a stone throw away from the national highway. It was hilarious. We thought we still need to make another ride while it’s just walking distance from the highway. We can’t stop laughing while the barker used his hand to point us the direction.

I never thought that it is just a very small cafe, they only extended their capacity to sit guests by providing some tables Al fresco.

Their place is very strategic, very easy to find.

Without too much on it.

We just had nachos since most of their items in the menu are rice base. The reason behind this is that most of their customers are students.

It was good. The tortillas are lightly flavored. The cheese sauce is rich and creamy. And there are lots of tomatoes too.

It was such a good find. Just 10 minutes away from home. And we were served by very nice fellows who are very friendly, they are with smiles when they talk, very courteous in assisting all through out our stay there. They know their best sellers as well and are good in talking sales.

Isn’t it so tempting?

This particular whim usually happens on weekends when everything else is lighter. There are a lot of issues on my coffee consumption but this is like combating a paradox. Why let them disrupt this ritual? To each his own.

It is good to know too, that cafes offering artisanal coffees recently proliferate in our town, I must say, I spotted another on my way home a few days ago.
