And they call it “Brekkie”!

And they call it “Brekkie”!

“All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast.” ~John Gunther~

Nowadays, I hear things that I don’t practically understand, millennial terms that I need to ask my son its’ meaning even how it is pronounced. He helps me update my vocabulary especially that I blog/ write. Like “rad” (cool or edgy), “meme”, “sepanx”, “salty”, “fleek”, “bae”, “adulting”, “chill”, “squad goals”, “instagrammable”, “yolo” or “fomo”, “FC” (feeling close), to mention a few.

There’s one term that I’m really loving lately: “Brekkie!”

I see it everywhere!

So since I’m loving this word, and literally loving having it, I might as well blog about it, I only have a few photos as references, but I’ll start collecting. You may contribute and add one here if you wish so, and I’ll try it if time (and budget) permits me!

Thanks in advance! =)

At home, these are our favorites:

The PATISSERIE at Solaire Hotel

The PATISSERIE at Solaire Hotel

“Bakers make the world smell better.”

This is the day or should I say the night that we’ve been waiting for. We are going to watch “Les Miserables” at the theater of Solaire Hotel.

Solaire is just in front of City of Dreams which cab drivers calls it as COD, so we didn’t have a hard time getting there.

Before everything else. We need to feed our stomachs prior to feeding our eyes much so our soul.

We landed at “The Patisserie”.

menu
French pastries and cakes…

It didn’t allow us to look no further as the display of pastries in their chillers are so inviting and we actually had a hard time choosing as well.

We had this but the iced tea is still in my mind.

I had ciabatta (the white one) with ham, tomato and cheese.

And for weeks now, Jen is on a diet, so she just had a tiny weeny dome of chocolate which I made her promise to share with me.

I honestly liked my grilled sandwich, with melted cheese on it and of course the tomatoes. I like anything with tomatoes.

My coffee was a bit strong so I had to request for a simple syrup.

Less sugar if none..

Jen seems to be enjoying hers. It is with caramel anyway.

She seems to be excited, questioned of getting something that will take me time to consume.

We were invited to try dining at the Oasis Garden cafe, however I am much into leaning to try it at Lucky Noodles because of it’s super huge mural. =)

Much to getting high on being able to watch a play I’ve been wishing to be in Manila, I also enjoyed finding beauty in every corner of this hotel.

All things that my eyes adore!

There are brightly colored flowers all around infusing me love for life, all the more.

I just got over the first quarter of 2016 and it has been big for me so far. And very soon after this, I know better days will come.

True enough, there’s always and always something to be grateful for. The sweet results of hard work and choices we make, of planning to make the best out of what I have in life. Giving a lot to it and life giving back all the elements making up the sweet life.

I’m telling you, just find beauty in the ordinary, everyday. I just did. =)

Come on to “ANDALE”! =)

Come on to Andale!

“Eating is one of the great beauties in life. One of my favorite recreations… Eating with friends, the service, the ambiance.” ~Leroy Neiman~

One of the good things I like best in my country is the wide choices it can offer when you wanted to give in to your cravings.

I have been postponing a trip to Enchanted kingdom (heaven knows I only wanted to eat Chimichanga there and meet my old friends) for several reasons.

Luckily, I found the nearest option at SM Aura. Foodie buddy and I found “Andale by Agave” literally on top of this faddish mall in BGC (Bonifacio Global City) which honestly I haven’t gotten around yet the whole of it since its’ conception a few years ago.

We found Andale from their touch-screen mall guides and the name itself denoted that I finally found what I’m looking for. Yey!

So off we headed to the Sky park. There are other choices of course, there’ s Lugang cafe, Coca and Mesa. Foodie buddy asked me if there’s a slim chance that I changed my mind and showed me the other places. As she herself didn’t have any cravings at that time, all she knows is she’s hungry. And we just had soft pretzels (coated in cinnamon sugar) a few minutes ago! =)

We’re here!!!!

Be that as it may, the chimichanga won’t stop rocking and rolling in my mind. Oh, cravings!

Time to choose!

The place is quite puny, probably just over a dozen can be accommodated on peak hours. We had ours on the corner, with bench on the side of the wall and single seaters fronting it.

Not that big..

Attractive ceiling fixtures..

And yes, I ordered for my chimichangas. I had it called in advance as Jen is still determining whether she will get burritos or quesadillas or both. Lol!

I have this like crush on Mexican food, really…

But it’ll always be chimichanga!
pepper sauce extra hot
It says: extra hot!

And both of us are contemplating on getting nachos, when the attendant brought us a tray of it as complimentary. Wow!

nachos
Those are 3 kinds of sauces: A milder one, one that is the usual and staple, and one that’s super hot!

Besides as my order arrived, it is quite big and I might not be able to consume all of it if I’ll get another like the Nacho grande that is I guess good for more than 3 pax.

chimis
My chimis with a very nice sour cream..

For the drink, we both enjoyed each of our preferred variants, Jen had yellow mango shake and I had the avocado shake. As expected: “Hi, simple syrup for my shake please.” And wish granted right away.

yaya jen
Jen chose mango and I had avocado…

I asked Jen how is her quesadillas, she enjoyed it that much becausethe cheese inside are mozarellas. There are 3 degrees of spiciness forthe salsa which they will ask you to choose and it fits my palate andhers. I got the mild one and she got the second one, the one with “budra” spice (which originated from India), that pungent spice used for curries. The third one? It is super hot! And I didn’t dare to try it.

quesadillas
Buen provecho!

I like the sour cream. I like the mozarellas inside my chimis too. I like the baked beans (there’s a lot!), and I like the mild salsa. I wasn’t forced to eat something I don’t really like but I have to because that is just the way it is. Here, they provided me options.

I’m really happy with my chimichangas. I can now delay another visit to the park.

Plus, they’ve got a wide array of spirits too!

tequila
Only from Mexico..

Andale by Agave is located at: Sky Park, Fifth Floor, SM Aura Premier, C5 Road Corner 26th Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. They also deliver, you can contact them at: 828-0355.

Those colorful chips reminded me of the violet nachos from Enchanted kingdom. =)

CATHERINE’s Cakes and Pies

Catherine’s Cakes and Pies

“Take your pleasure seriously.” ~Charles Eames~

Okay, reaching 40, I then came into a conclusion that my awareness has to go further even to how I feed myself. I noticed lines in my face, and remembered the years when they are not there yet.

I noticed sagging skin, my being weakling in some tasks that used to be very easy for me. How I love to walk years ago and I dread them now or maybe because I was in the wrong pair of shoes.

Nevertheless, I had to remind myself to be more conscious, simply because I am no longer in my twenty’s.

However, life is short and during occasion, I sometimes give in to my vices and indulge. =)

I am so excited to share with you how I discovered one of the best apple pie in my country as declared by spot.ph as of 2014.

We had two different cakes come New Year’s Eve.

2 boxes
Both from Catherine’s!

While I listed down brands as to where I will get my New year’s eve desserts on top of my home-made salad, I finally decided to get it from Catherine’s. I saw them from spot.ph. Stalked their Facebook page and as impressive as they are in the photos. It is exactly how it is in real life. They are also very cooperative on-line. My queries were immediately answered which prompted me to choose them this year.

For these two different cakes. They were my dessert for almost three consecutive days after New year’s eve and honestly, I didn’t get tired eating them. I indulged in every sense of the word. And was emotional while eating like have them tried by my besties and that we will eat them together while sharing many stories.

And If I may describe the apple pie, believe me, the caramel sauce isn’t too sweet. You will catch some bits of walnuts in each bite and I’ve come to appreciate more the benefits of walnuts not only for my cravings but for my body as well. I forget to mention, I saw a lot of apples, and apples and apples. And the crust is so flaky, which tasted heavenly for me. It is really worth it. If you will find out how we were able to get them and went all the way to Sucat, Paranaque on Dec. 30 just to get them.

apple pie
Sweetly comes with personalized cards and pretty ribbons that I wouldn’t want to throw away. =)

While the blueberry cheesecake, you know how I love it, and if I can have it as often as I can, I will surely do.

my bb
Loved the cheese!

It is nice to know that they weren’t frugal in topping them with real berries. They even topped them with cheese which created a different but nicer taste for me, my son didn’t like the idea but since I’ve always love cheese, it tasted better for me. And the fluffy texture is just so right. The creaminess of the cheesecake is not tiring, which allowed the natural taste of blueberries to still be dominant. Besides, it is blueberry cheesecake with a twist. It was my first to try one with cheese on top of it.

I forgot to have a photo with the owner, they were so pleasing and thoughtful too. They even left instructions inside the box like a serving suggestion.

Soon, I’m going to get the sampler box. It is sugar, spice and everything nice. It is a happy new year indeed!

My New Year’s Eve spread wouldn’t be complete without the sweet ones! Thank you Catherine’s!
