For several times now, I have been seeing Harlan and Holden Glass house each time I passed by Power plant mall. I always wonder who conceptualized it since this brand initially offers lifestyle clothing only, and to discover they decided to venture into the F&B territory, buoyed me up to try it.

And glancing at the interiors, I really find it enticing.

And so one Friday, before seeing a blocked screening of this highly-acclaimed movie, we decided to stop by.

They’re are real trees!

I chose to blog about The Harlan Glasshouse, even if I do not have much food to show because we were really happy to have given it a try, the experience was truly gratifying, and for all the three facets when I decide as to where to dine: taste of food, ambience and service. =) It is a two thumbs up on all three.

For quite some time now, I just want to photograph those chic golden cubiertos. =)
Salted caramel eclair

The pasta was undeniably al dente, I felt just the rightest crunch and its’ flavorful sauce is exactly as how we hope it to be. Jen got excited with the parmigiano shavings topped to it adequately.

If there’s an eclair, I will definitely get an eclair. Theirs is a bigger one, not the usual eclair that’s coated with chocolate, we got the salted caramel variant, although they have one coated with chocolate too. There’s a unique level of texture in it and worked really very well for a dessert. It is also not too sweet.

I’m guilty I had to request for a simple syrup for my freshly squeezed orange juice even if it is an accomplished thirst quencher on its’ own. My friend liked her specialty coffee too.

My college prof told me their Lapu-lapu fillet is worth a try. And I’ve been reading a lot of good feedbacks on their steaks and the famous corned beef rice bowl. So I already know what to get next time. =) Plan to go there during the not so busy hours, this way, you get to choose the better spots. =)

TUs Restaurant

I spotted Tus from their Instagram account. If you’ve seen mine, I have more than 8,000 posts always having fun, dreaming, setting-goals and just being happy and inspired watching posts of my fellow Instagram junkies.

Tus is a Spanish word for “yours”. I didn’t realize that I’ve been passing by it for several times because aside from Alabang Town Center & Commerce Center , Westgate Center is like a rendezvous to me when I’m in Alabang.

I have been eyeing their half-baked cookie, and upon checking they have more attractive dishes to choose from.

I fell in love with their interiors too. The place exudes a very rustic charm and is very homey and comfy too. =)

We took great pleasure having these:

Jen and I shared those deep fried breaded mozzarella cheese sticks served with a slightly spicy marinara sauce. Jen had this crowd favorite: rib-eye steak topped with sauteed onions and melted Swiss cheese. It comes with three choices of side, Jen chose mashed potatoes. The two other choices: steamed rice and sauteed corn.

Diavolo: Hmm, from the name itself, I’m pretty sure it is spicy. So I asked the attendant if they can lessen the spiciness, and they said they can, except for the Pepperoni which is naturally a little bit spicy on its’ own which for the good part of it, I can manage. Aside from the Pepperoni, it has chili olive oil, red onions, black olives, marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese and homemade pizza dough. As described, this pot pie is cooked upside down on a clay pot and homemade dough is oven-baked to perfection. And I really love their dough! =)

I am so excited for the famous half-baked cookie. For some reason, it reminded me of the cookie shots at Aguirre street, however, it’s just sad that Cafe Alezon shut down already.

Like a finale, we truly enjoyed this house-made cookie dough half-baked in a cazuela. It comes with a scoop of ice cream. Cazuela is a pan or a casserole in Spanish.

They’ve got all the drinks you’d ever need except for coffee. They’ve got iced tea and lemonades, fruit shakes, hot teas and they have wines too.

I reckon that there must be thousands who have tried dining here and most likely have gone back for several times. You should try Tus! =)

It’s chow time at Johnny Chow!

When you’re at Resorts World, and you need to dine with all the flurry, you have some more than 50 delightful restaurants to choose from, whether you’re craving for local dishes, Asian cuisine, American or even European F & B, they have it, artfully integrated.

We spotted Johnny Chow at the second floor of Newport Mall, it is a sight to behold like a muse among other pretty faces. The vibrant colors and the hanging lamps are really a “come on”.

Johnny Chow was curated by the team who introduced to us SumoSam, Mr. Kurosawa and John and Yoko. A fusion of Thai, Chinese and Korean cuisine. I remember the first time I tried John and Yoko in Alabang Town Center, I really loved it and when my foodie buddy asked me to bring her there, this time the one in Makati, I had to say yes, and it’s just a difference of 2 days. I love their food and their interiors too. It’s purple. =)

Nowadays, menus of Restaurants are usually displayed in front, giving customers to gauge their choices, assisted by a bubbly attendant so amusing, enumerating points to help you make decisions. At Johnny Chow, theirs are somehow eccentric, the ladies are wearing colored wigs, the men exuding attires depicting a culture that is truly pop! =)

And the interiors mesmerized me, like a scene from a Broadway hit during the 1960s. My eyes feasted on all the colors that I love.

I remember they got sweet and sour pork for Echo, I just missed to take a picture I think, My son, Echo loved it too.

Gabriela Silang Museum of Fine Arts – Tayum, Abra

One of the things that I really treasured during my last travel to Abra is the chance I had to visit the Gabriela Carino-Silang Gallery of Fine Arts. I was really wanting to stay longer, however, said trip was with a group and so I had to follow the length of stay per itinerary.

Should there be a chance, I would really love to come back, though for now, let me share with you one of the most thought-provoking art collection, the most expansive array I’ve seen locally (I was thinking it is Pinto Art Museum), owned by former Ambassador Rosario V. Carino, the paternal uncle of the country’s Joan of Arc, Gabriela Silang. Said house had became her retreat, when she fled from Vigan to shun captive, during the revolt against the Spaniards. Well, the rest is history.

Due to the diplomats’ vast collection from most parts of the globe for more than thirty years, it eventually became a gallery of Fine Arts, the squire shared with us stories behind some of the collector’s items. The well-traveled diplomat ensured that he’s got something to bring home and the accumulation of well-kept art pieces created one of the most fascinating anthology I’ve seen.

When we came, there is an on-going renovation to display the items in a better way. There is a minimum entrance fee so as to aid said renovation and preserve them for the next generations to lay eyes on. Members of the Carino family were the ones who acted like a tour guide and didn’t leave all of us unassisted. I must agree with “Tupang Gala”. It is a beautiful mess. =)

Upon entry, two rooms are situated on both sides, one is like a resting area and the other one is a library.

When you enter the “bulwagan” (hall), you can’t help but be amazed of how massive the art collections that has been gathered from generations after generations. I felt a certain kind of abundance.

This violet vase which caught my attention is also a gift to the Ambassador.
I inquired if they have a reproduction of the “Holy Shroud”, there’s none, however, they showed me this one, an oil painting of Christ resurrected.

I was hoping the government will also assist in the preservation of said museum, I just heard about the restoration of Gabriela Silang’s father’s ancestral house in Candon, Ilocos Sur.

Jen spotted this outside, which I missed.

To be honest, this museum visit took my breath away. Estimating everything to be billion worth. Perhaps, this treasure trove is priceless.

If you’re the type looking for so much more than food and drinks and chilling down south? Upperdeck bar and restaurant has more. They have pool, billiard hall, tattoo sessions and they have live acoustic and open mic jam. There’s ladies night, pay per views, name it.

There’s no denying that Upperdeck is a place where I can bring my friends not because the Owners are my friends but because the place is literally noteworthy. =)

A sweet couple so busy, still made time to see me. =)

So, one night, Jen and I went to the place and these are what we truly enjoyed. Most of their “Best sellers”!

It’s interiors by the way is not the soft type, and not too stiff at the same time. It has some quirky side and what’s eminent is its’ masculine side. Giving you hints that the prime movers of this cool place are actually four gentlemen. =)

Over-all look and “feel” is just perfect for their offerings. =)

The whole idea just popped out during one of their usual time together and as determined as these four are, it came to life. Serving thousands who’d always leave pleased and are already planning as to when they’re going to go back. Just like Jen and I did. =)

So when you’re heading down south, wanting just to chill, unwind and enjoy the night, treat yourself by visiting Upperdeck!=)

By the way, this is one of my favorites. Surely, everyone will pass the requirements right? Easy! =)
